History

The school today has undergone some transformation and reformation over the years. It started as St. Margaret's Secondary Modern School in January 1961 by the Roman Catholic Mission then under Ibonwo Parish. The administration of the school was under the Parish Administration of Ibonwon. The school then prepared candidates for the secondary modern school certificate examination. The distance of the Parish Headquarters at Ibonwon created administrative problems, supervision became difficult. These problems led to an act of discipline by both, the teachers and the students. The school died a natural death in 1967 when most of the teachers fled the town for acts of the discipline.
The school remained closed until 1970 when the then Bishop of Ijebu-Ode Catholic Diocese, A. S. Sanusi's attention was drawn to the plight of the people of Iwopin. After the initial inspection, the school was re-opened in October 1972 with 46 students, but to be called St. Kizito's Vocational Institute.
